About Dr. Kahn

Background

Gloria Batkin Kahn, Ed.D., ABPP is a clinical psychologist in Westchester County, New York. She has been in private practice since 1977 and is well known for her many contributions to the field of psychology. Dr. Kahn provides individual, couples, and group treatment to both adults and adolescents.

In 1996, Dr. Kahn received the Westchester County Psychological Association’s Distinguished Service Award. She was elected Fellow of American Group Psychotherapy Association in 1999. Dr. Kahn earned the American Group Psychotherapy Association’s Affiliate Assembly 2003 Award for contribution to development of group therapy.

Dr. Kahn actively participates in a number of local, state, and national professional organizations. She currently serves as President at the American Board of Group Psychology, the credentialing Board of APA for the Diplomate in Group Psychology. In addition, she serves as the Community Relations Chair on the Board of the Westchester County Psychological Association and the nominations Chair on the Board of the Westchester Group Psychotherapy Society.

Education

Dr. Kahn received her Doctorate at Columbia University in 1975. Her continued commitment to education and professional development led her to become a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist in 1993 and a Certified Group Psychotherapist in 1994. In 1999, she became one of the first twenty-five psychologists to be awarded a Diplomate in Group Psychotherapy by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Training and Experience

For more than thirty years Dr. Kahn has worked with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families to help them grow and achieve healthy relationships through powerful and effective psychotherapy.

Trained by Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., the co-creator of Imago Relationship Therapy, Dr. Kahn uses the “no blame, shame, or criticism” teachings of Imago to help people explore, understand, and appreciate the differences in their relationships in a way that results in improved communications and more harmonious relationships.

She makes frequent public presentations locally, nationally, and internationally on relationship issues, couples and group therapy, adolescent adjustments, conflict resolutions, families in crisis, trauma recovery and group treatment for adolescents. Dr. Kahn has published several professional articles and book chapters on group therapy, relationship issues, and adolescent treatment.

Licensure

Dr. Kahn is licensed by New York State Education Department as a Psychologist since 1977 and holds Lincense Number 005364 issued by the State.
